  Dear Marple Bridge Church,
  
  I am writing in the hope that someone knows something about the large building which used to be the church halls until 1980. Mike tells me it was built as a Mechanics Institute or similar. I am now doing an MA in History with the OU and writing about the inter-action of the churches with the working classes in the 19th century. I was hoping to use this as one example, if I can find some relevant information. If you have passed all the old records on to your county Record Office, I shall write to them, but it would be useful to know roughly hnthis was done. maybe in 1980 when ww vacated teh building.
